11-Year-Old Girl From Nottingham Requests For Disney To Create A Princess With Glasses
Disney has been criticized in the past for their portrayal of Disney princesses, many of whom are White and of European descent.
Over the years, Disney has been slowly adding more diversity by creating ethnic princesses such as Jasmine, Pochaontas, Mulan, Tiana and Moana.
But one little girl says that Disney could do A LOT more by creating a new Disney princess.
One 11-year-old girl in Nottingham named Lowri Moore wrote a letter to Disney’s chief executive, Bob Iger and asked him to create a Disney princess who wears glasses.
She wrote in her letter that, “characters with glasses are usually portrayed as geeky or nerdy instead of beautiful.”
Lowri also shares why she would love to see this idea come to life,
“I’ve grown up watching Disney princesses and I’ve always admired them and thought that they were beautiful. Unfortunately non of the princesses wear glasses and that made me feel as though i’m not beautiful enough.”
One local artist in the area named Natalie Owen heard about the letter and made a special character and book for Lowri called, Princess Rose and the Golden Glasses.
Listen up Disney! Here’s a new possible idea for you.
