Decades before he joined the White House coronavirus task force, Dr. Anthony Fauci was the inspiration behind a character in a steamy romance novel.  Romance writer Sally Quinn says the mysterious scientist ‘Michael Lanzer’ from her 1991 novel Happy Endings was based on Fauci, who she “fell in love with” after meeting at a Washington D.C. dinner.

So how did Fauci feel about inspiring a romance novel? Quinn says he “just thought it was funny”, adding “I think he was a little embarrassed”.
