The 2019 Academy Award nominations were announced and as usual, there’s the good, the bad, and the ugly! First the good. The movies with the most nominations were Roma, A Star is Born, The Favourite, and Green Book!
Lady Gaga received nominations for Best Actress and Original Song. And, A Star is Born is nominated for Best Picture! Bradley Cooper also received the Best Actor nod, but was not given a nomination in the Director category, which many people considered to be a snub.
Some of the more obvious snubs include Best Actor for Ethan Hawke in First Reformed, Best Supporting Actor Michael B. Jordan for Black Panther, and Best Documentary for the Mr. Rogers film Won’t You Be My Neighbor. Maybe the most shocking snub of all… not a single nomination for Crazy Rich Asians! (What? That was an an amazing movie!?)
The Best Picture category is a bit of a toss up… hard to predict who will win it.
So now, we have some movies to get caught up on before the big Oscar night. Have you seen The Favourite, Green Book, or Vice?? Good homework!
The host-less Academy Awards will air February 24 on ABC.
Here’s the list of nominations!
