The Percy Jackson series was, at one time, considered the next “Harry Potter”
Okay, it wasn’t nearly as popular, but it still sold millions of copies worldwide.
It was only a matter of time before it became a movie.
And in 2010, “The Lightning Thief” movie was released.
It was… well, it was a movie. Of a sort.
They then released “The Sea of Monsters” in 2013, which was also a movie that was released. Sort of.
There was a “Lightning Thief: The Musical” last year, which was generally seen as a positive step forward for the beloved series.
But now, in the year 2020, the next big step is going to be made.
Percy Jackson is getting its own television series!

According to Variety, author Rick Riordan officially announced that Disney was developing a Percy Jackson series for Disney+
Riordan explained that while they couldn’t say much, the first season will be a “high-quality” retelling first book.
The implication being, the rest of the series will follow in subsequent seasons.
The best part? Riordan says:
“Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show.”

The Percy Jackson series follows the son of Poseidon in modern day, as he learns to control his powers, and fights to preserve his birthright in Olympus.
There are 5 books in the main series: The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian.
It’s absolutely screaming for a big budget, such as the one for The Mandalorian.
And with the Riordans being closely involved, it can only be great.
Oh, and hopefully they do some book-accurate filming!
You might remember, the climax of the first book happens right here in the Bay Area, on Mount Tamalpais.
