Britney Spears is an American icon.

She’s brilliantly multi-talented.

Her rise from a small town in Louisiana is emblematic of modern ideals of stardom.

And the fact that she’s weathered incredible odds, public breakdowns, and controversies, while still managing to focus on self-improvement is downright inspiring.

So obviously, she needs a statue erected in her name.

According to Indy100, all of those statues commemorating leaders of the bygone confederacy are being torn down in cities all over the American south.

And something needs to go in their place.

Enter this incredible Petition:

“Replace Confederate statues in New Orleans with statues of Louisiana hero Britney Spears”

Kassie Thibodeaux, the creator of the petition writes:

“Not only has Britney proven her talent, but she’s proven her strength of character by not only overcoming highly publicized mental breakdown, but by continuously working towards improving herself. She’s an inspiration to millions.”

The petition goes on to list her many charitable works…

Including her fundraising efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina…

And that the singer is currently donating a portion of her Vegas ticket sales to support the Louisiana State Fund.

And honestly? The petition is totally right:

Creating actual monuments to actual American heroes, cultural icons, and innovators should supersede our glorification of the country’s problematic past.

And if anyone deserves to have a statue in their honor…
