Scientists Say People Don’t Really Become Adults Until Their 30’s

If you’re under 30 and think that you already need to have your life all put together, take a breath. A new study from brain scientists found that people don’t actually become adults until they hit the age of 30 or older.

Peter Jones, a Cambridge University Professor mentioned these points:

  • There isn’t an official definition for “adult” and it the process of growing into one takes about three decades.
  • Jones confirmed that, “legally being an adult doesn’t mean that you’re ready to take on the adult world.”

The research study confirmed that the rational part of our brains isn’t really fully developed until we hit the age of 25. After that, it would take a few more years for the brain to have adult thought patterns to fully be there.

Even though we’re a bit older, we still feel like we’re kids at heart.
