Cookies are delicious. It’s so hard to just have one. In fact, scientists have found that cookies can be as addictive as cocaine.
Scientists from the University of Bordeaux found that ingredients used in cookies trigger a similar response in the brain that’s also identical to responses caused by coke.
Now the ingredient that triggers the brain actually isn’t sugar. Turns out from the results in the study, salt activates the brain’s reward centers which is why we can be addicted to cookies.
The overall study stated that,
“This research has revealed that sugar and sweet reward can not only substitute to addictive drugs, like cocaine, but can even be more rewarding and attractive.”
